Gary
McCausland MRICS
Dubbed ‘…a hot property’ by the media, Gary
McCausland is the presenter of Five’s flagship property
programme How to be a Property Developer and
Property Developing Abroad. Appearing regularly
on BBC1, Sky News, BBC World 24 and Five News as an expert commentator
he has just completed writing a book entitled How to

"Property's answer to Jamie
Oliver" (Belfast Telegraph)
Straight-talking, with an intuitive knowledge of the property
market second to none, Gary McCausland is himself a successful
property developer. Since 2002, his company, the Richland
Group, has taken control of the purchasing, designing, building
and selling hundreds of residential and commercial properties.
New developments are ongoing, and his company's profile and
success continues to grow, achieving a gross development value
of well over £65 million to date.
"When it comes to property
this man knows his stuff" (Metro)
It's this drive, knowledge and experience that audiences and
potential property developers are drawn towards. And in 2006,
Gary launched Property Power, a series of live UK-wide seminars
teaching audiences his unique formula for developing property
and all the insider secrets that could enable them to become
millionaire property developers.
"Gary's plain speaking
owes a little to Simon Cowell, but he knows what he's talking
about" (Mail On Sunday)
Gary was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and grew up in a
town called Dungannon throughout the troubles in the 70's and
80's. He is the eldest of seven siblings, two girls & five
boys.
It was during these days that the first dreams of being a property
developer were born, as he recognised opportunities of building,
renovating & essentially improving his environment. He always
wanted to work in property and chose the corporate route to
lay the foundations for this ambition. He obtained an honours
degree in Estate Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accountancy
from the University of Ulster and now is a Chartered Surveyor.
He worked as a Management Accountant for a year in 1992 and
then as a Property Manager for Cable and Wireless, moving to
London to take on a senior UK Management role (1993 - 1998).
He eventually moved to US telecoms giant MCI and became their
International Estate's Manager (1998 - 2000) before he took
his final step to another American company The Carlyle Group
as their European Sales Director (2000 - 2001).
After around ten years on the corporate ladder, buying &
selling literally hundreds of properties across the world, it
was time to fulfill his own ambition; Gary started a property
development company, The Richland Group, in 2002. He established
himself as a successful property developer within a relatively
short period of time and new developments are on-going, and
the company's profile and success continues to grow, achieving
a turnover of several million per annum.
Whilst growing his property company Gary, along with his brother,
founded and opened 'The Kingly Club' in Soho, London. An exclusive
members bar which has been voted 'Bar of the Year 2004, 2005
and 2006' at the London Bar & Club awards hosted and televised
at the Park Lane Hilton Hotel.
Approached by Channel five in 2004, Gary is presenter on five's
flagship program 'How to be a Property Developer'. Using a fly-on-the-wall
approach, Gary observes two teams of hopefuls who try to accumulate
as much money as possible by buying and selling property. Each
team has an initial advance of £300,000 and a time limit
of a year. He gives them advice, watches how they use it and
in the last programme informs them of their most clever and
not so clever moves! The shows popularity has led to Gary filming
a second and third series. He has also just recently completed
two new series 'Property Developing Abroad' and 'The Anne Maurice
Project' both to be shown Prime time five. He has also just
begun filming a new 10 part property series with the Discovery
Channel which will be shown world wide.
Despite his success Gary continues to stay focused on growing
his business and media career further making the most of the
opportunities available and has just recently expanded into
hotels, finance and the leisure industry.
